I finished off the month strong & made almost $84K in June overall. At one point I thought I was at a $100K month but I figured out that I had just made some miscaclulations on previous blog entries. I had double checked everything because it just didn't seem right that I made over $100K while playing less than 140 hours during the month. $83K+ will do the trick though.

Today my last 3 stakees are finally starting. The 3 stakees starting today are MJCACE on Full Tilt, iggypok on Ongame, & Pr0poker on ipoker. I'm pretty excited to have all of them going as I now have 7 stakees under me. It will be fun to see their progression & how much bank they can make in the next year. I know all 3 of them have already improved a lot in the past month or so that they've received my coaching. I have pretty high exppectations for them all.

I've been playing a fair amount the last couple weeks with this player w/ the screen name jkhub3000. It can actually get confusing when I have 10-16 tables going. In one instance I glaced at his name & thought it was me as he scooped a large pot. Then I'm in a pot w/ him a couple of hands later & realize it wasn't me. Sigh. I might have to start using the preferred seat option to avoid any confusion. There's also a notjhub3000, but I'm pretty sure it's the same person as jscrub3000 was.

Going into the NBA draft I expected the T-Wolves to fuck something up & not take O.J. Mayo. It gets to us with the third pick & we actually pick him. I was pumped. Later that night I'm at the Bars & happen to glance at the TV right as they're talking about OJ Mayo being traded to the Grizzlies for Kevin Love. Sigh. I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up too high w/ Kevin McHale running the operation. You would think he would finally take the safe pick: O.J. Mayo, the future superstars who will actuallyu put some fans in the Target Center seats. Of course he wouldn't, he's Kevin McHale, the same guy that has drafted high or traded for such studs as Ndudi Ebi, William Avery, Rashad McCants, & Marco Jaric. He's the guy who made an under the table deal for scrubby Joe Smith, who never did anything; in which we lost several 1st round picks as punishment. On one end we get Kevin Love, Mike Miller, & unload Marco Jaric's ridiculous contract. I think Kevin Love will be a solid NBA player (not an all star), Miller will be our starting SG & should be solid as well, and getting Jaric's contract off the books will free up some cap room. On the other end you just don't pass up the opportunity take a player of OJ Mayo's calibur. These are the kind of moves that make GMs look silly. OJ Mayo will be a stud for years to come & was exactly what the Wolves needed to put some excitement back into the franchise. McHale hasn't exactly had much success with previous draft day swaps of top 5 picks either. They traded Stephon Marbury for Ray Allen. Marbury didn't stay with the team long & has never turned out to be more than an overpaid, whiny, shoot 1st point guard who can't help his team win. Meanwhile Ray Allen has consistently been an all star & one of the league's leading scorers for the last decade. Now he's teamed up with KG in Boston & just won a championship. If McHale had never traded Allen I think KG would have stayed happy in Minnesota & maybe they could have been the one winning the championship. More recently, McHale made another draft day deal in which he traded Brandon Roy to Portland for Randy Foye. While Foye has struggled with injuries & been less than stellar when he's healthy, all Brandon Roy has done is win rookie of the year & make the all star team. I'll admit, the players aren't far enough in their careers to fairly rate that deal, but it's not looking good. That said, I don't think the Love for Mayo deal was that bad, but I'm certainly not a fan of it. Kevin McHale is the worst GM in sports, period. If he wasn't friends with the owner Glen Taylo he would have gotten the axe a long time ago. Ok, so that's my rant on Kevin McHale sucking.

I had a $1K piece of Bigjoe2003 (Joey Michael) in the $50K HORSE event & he had a strong showing, finishing 14th. I think I made somewhere between $1K & $1,500 off the deal but I haven't exactly cared enough to run the calculations, nor have I talked to Joey since. I haven't received payment yet so it won't be included in my stats. I also had a $1K piece of Little Kraut in the $5K 6 handed event on the 26th but no cash there.

I bubbled both of the $1Ks I played last week, which is always fun. In one of them the biggest lagtard ever raised on the button & I re-shoved something like A9 or AJ for 12-15BBs. This guy was seriously raising at least 80% of the hands, if not 90-100% but he obviously woke up with AK. Oh well.

On Sunday I played some MTTs & played some of the high stakes SNGs with them. I basically ran like ass in the MTTs, which is standard. I didn't keep track of my hours played on Sunday cause I was kind of dicking around & wasn't playing anywhere near my full load. MTTs are so frustrating because I'll never put in the same size I need to with them to get to the long run, because they just aren't worth it for me to play. I don't know how people play them for a living anyway. You don't have much freedom of scheduling & they can often take 10 hours. You're basically forced to work almost every weekend if you want to make any decent money because that's when all the big tournies are. While weekends are really the most profitable time to play for any form of poker, I generally don't play them because I have more things going on w/ friends, girlfriend, family, etc... on weekends, especially during spring & summer.

Other than Sunday I haven't played this week, & don't plan on it. I have other stuff I need to get done before Vegas & also wanted to finish up Gus Hansen's book, which was decent. Pokerstars is running double VPPs this week but that's probably the most overrated promotion of all time. Yeah you make double in VPPs but the promotion floods the games with good players & has a drastic impact on your ROI. If you are playing $235s & are supernova you will make about an extra $4 per game in VPPs. It takes less than a 2% ROI drop off your normal ROI to make the double VPP promotion less profitable than a normal week. From the looks of some of the games I've seen going during double VPP week, I'd say a 2% ROI drop should be expected. The only players it's good for are people going for supernova elite, or 1.25 million VPPs, 1.5 million VPPs, etc...

The WSOP is driving me nuts. I sent my pre-registration w/ a $10K cashier's check for the main event overnight somewhere around June 16th. I haven't heard one thing from them since on whether they've received my check or which day 1 I start on. This past weekend I emailed them about it & they sent some automated BS back saying they'll reply within 3-5 business days. Apparently they're really quick at replying to emails. I haven't received an email back yet so I decided to call them. I 1st called the # on the WSOP website. That sent me to another #, which was some automated BS, which then sent me to another #, which sent me to another #. I call the last # & get the answering machine. I get the voicemail, leave a message, & haven't received a call back yet. WTF! How can your customer service be that bad? The Rio is the same way. If I can't get a hold of them before I leave I'll have to go to the bank & get $10K cash to bring to Vegas, just in case my cashier's check didn't go through.

I leave for Vegas tomorrow night. My flight will get into Vegas late at night around 11-11:30. My girlfriend Paula is coming with me & leaving on the 6th because she is going to school to be an xray tech & has year round clinicals she can't get out of. I'll be staying in a house with kenny05 & Little Kraut, and whoever else happens to be staying there during the main event. I'm not sure who all will be there as people have been in & out of the house throughout the series. I don't plan on playing much online while I'm out there. It should be fun. I think it's going to be a lot more fun than last year. I get back from Vegas July 15th but then I'm going camping w/ Paula & her family that weekend so I won't be playing much until July 21st, at which point I should be back to a more normal schedule.

Last month I made $10,038.75 in rakeback on Cake. It was lower than normal since I played less. I got a $4,417.05 payment today, which is what you see in the stats. The other $5,621.70 will be paid within the next few days & will be added to my stats the next blog entry. I also made $1,165.44 in rakeback on my 3rd site last month, which will be paid later this month and added to my stats at that time.
